Yes, it was a disappointment not to win...but I would have never written these stories without it. I discovered just how wonderful it was to write an epic story under 20,000 words. Crafting each story to be unique was a joy. All three of my retellings are very special to me, and I am so thankful the contest was held so that I could write them! What I will do with them now, I do not know. Perhaps I shall hold on to them for my own collection of fairytales one day or maybe enter them in another contest.
It occurred to me that I never shared what they were about, even though I said I would. So I thought that I'd share now. Enjoy!
Twelfth Stroke
On the stroke of twelve, fairy tales end...
When her country plots murderous treason, Elra must discover her inner strength and identity to right what has long been wronged. Can she find her courage before time runs out?
TransparencyPeople look right through Shyella. Weston can relate; no one seems to see him either. But Shyella is literally invisible. Is their unlikely friendship strong enough to withstand her curse?
The Cinderella Case
The detectives and the dastardly thief, the Dragon, are closing in on the search for the national treasure, Cinderella's glass slippers. If Agent Ella succeeds in her mission, she could cast away her humble roots forever...if her brashness doesn't shatter everything first.
Writing these stories was an absolute blast. Further more, I was blessed enough to have readers who edited and encouraged my work! It was a wonderful experience to work with them!
So thank you all, both the creators of the contest and those who helped refine my tales. Hopefully, you all get the chance to read these someday!
And be sure to read the results of the contest in Five Glass Slippers releasing in June!

Your stories sound excellent, Hannah. I agree. The contest was wonderful because it provided so many opportunities for writers. I definitely hope to read your Cinderella stories someday. I'm also excited about the Five Glass Slippers collection. There are several books coming out this year I want to read, and that collection is definitely one of them.
God bless.
Your stories sound fantastic! I hope that one day you will share them with us!
Meredtith: Thank you! I too, can't wait for the collection! It'll be wonderful.
Bookishqueen: Thanks! I hope so too!
These look fun; I love the idea of invisibility.
And the detective idea is brilliant......mind if I borrow it?
Blue: Thank you! Of course, detective ideas are floating around free in writerly space, so I certainly don't mind. I'd rather not the exact idea as the summary goes as I'd like to share it someday. But everyone has their own different twist!
Ooh. These sound awesome, Hannah. I wish I could read them somehow. *hint hint*
I think the invisible "Cinderella" is an awesome idea! Looks like something I'd read. :-D
Like you, if it hadn't been for the contest, I likely would not have written/come up with my Cinderella tale. I didn't win anything from "Clumsy Feet," but its dear to my heart- I'm glad the contest gave me the inspiration for it.
I've said it before, and I've said it again: you are a very talented writer, Hannah, and I feel blessed to have read some of your work.
Now edit faster. We want to read Moonscript soon. : )
Those sound awesome, Hannah! I'd love to read all three of them! The first and second ones really grabbed my attention.
Thank you, Grace and Sarah!
Ah, you are a merciless motivator, Allison. I just hope you're patient (aside from all the proddings, that is.) ;)
Thank you, Gillian! It means a lot, since I'm such a fan of your writing, and am eagerly anticipating your book release (that's coming soon, right?)!
Transparency looks AWESOME!
Even though you did not win, hurrah for finishing three stories by the deadline!
(I was writing two, but only barely finished one by December.)
Ghost Ryter: It was a blessing indeed how quickly the stories came to me. When I have the drive, I can write really fast.
Well, now you can finish the other one too!
Oh, Hannah, I want to read these stories so much! They sound awesome! Actually, if I remember correctly, I have heard one of them or at least the first draft, I think. Anyway, keep up the good writing!
Thanks, Missy!
This is a beautiful post! I know how disappointing not winning the contest was (I share your pain), but you wrote THREE stories (that sound amazing) because of it! And there will be another five something contest to enter!
And even though none of your stories made it into the final Five Glass Slippers, your fanart for the Goldstone Wood is absolutely unparalleled!
You should definitely try to publish your stories--create your own book of Five Glass Slippers! And you should post some excerpts here! I know everyone would love to read them.
Thank you so much, Gwen! That is so very sweet and kind! Yes, I am looking very forward to the next contest, and I hope you are too!
Aw, I'm glad you enjoy my fan art so much! I love to do it, and it's always a blessing to hear that it's appreciated.
They are definitely on my list of "Things I'd Like to Publish", but we'll see where God leads. I might post an excerpt, but it might be too mean if the entire story wouldn't available.
Yes, I am very much looking forward to the next contest! (Personally, I hope it's Beauty and the Beast!)
I do appreciate your fanart! Your use of various media is astounding (I'm stuck in a rut of just using pencils)--I love how you use colored pencils, paint, and others! You art is definitely a blessing to everyone, Anne Elisabeth included, I'm sure! It always amazes me how there's beautiful fanart (by you) done for all the stories even before they are available!
If an excerpt would be too tantalizing, there's always the option of posting an entire story!
