Hi Shantelle! First off, could you tell us a little bit
about yourself?
Hey Hannah! Thanks for having me here on your lovely blog!
:) I’m an eighteen year old, Christian homeschool graduate with a passion for
writing books! I also love to read. I currently live with my parents and seven
siblings—one older and six younger. Striving to follow God’s path for my life
and just started my journey of independently-publishing!
Is there something you’d like to do, but you don’t think
you’ll ever get the chance?
Ooh, I’ve always secretly wished to be an actress . . .
Sort of living a book out instead of merely reading it, :D But I think I’m too
self-conscious and shy to ever be good at acting. Also, I probably wouldn’t
ever be serious enough to really pursue it and get myself out there. But it’s
fun to dream, ;)
That would be fun! What’s your favorite genre to read and
write?
I think it would have to be fantasy. There’s just . . .
worlds of possibility! So much can happen—anything can happen! :D Fairy tale,
dystopian, and historical are also genres I love to read. I used to write a lot
of historical, but recently I’ve been writing mostly fantasy and fairy tale. I
started a dystopian story that I really want to finish as well!
Name your top five favorite secondary heroes!
Finnick Odair from Catching
Fire [2013] and Mockingjay: Part I [2014]!! I’ll add some heroines . . . Joanna Mason from Catching Fire [2013].
She’s a really intriguing character. And Effie
Trinket! Haha. Not necessarily the first movie; but I loved to watch her
soften and sort of acquire real emotions in the next movies. Hmm, let me think
. . . Kaden Altair and Leetra from the Ilyon Chronicles by
Jaye L. Knight also.
Those are great choices! Ah, Finnick….If you could invite
three fictional characters to a tea party, who would they be?
Kyrin Altair (Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L. Knight),
Imraldera (Tales of Goldstone Wood by Anne Elisabeth Stengl), and Ela of Parne
(Books of the Infinite by R.J. Larson). Would be honored to invite those lovely
ladies to tea, ^__^
That would be a very delightful tea party. I would feel
quite small in the presence of such wise and serene ladies. What inspired the
idea for A Dream Not Imagined? Any interesting behind the scene stories while
writing it?
I can’t really say. I just starting writing it with the
plan to subtly base it off the classic Cinderella
story. And an interesting tale started coming to be, :D I don’t really have much
for behind-the-scenes, but sometimes I was writing with my homeschool group’s
square-dancing lessons in mind. Fun memories! :)
Do you have any advice for writers interested in
self-publishing?
Hmm, write from your heart! ^__^ Let people read your stories,
haha! Family and friends, and eventually beta readers. It kind of tells you if
your story is ready for the world yet or not. Talk lots to authors who are successfully independently-publishing. Ask
all sorts of questions. Read indie-publishing guides. Just plain read a lot.
And keep going! :D If God has given you a gift and a passion for writing, then
He has a plan for it! Never give up! <3
Thanks, Shantelle!
A MAID, a PRINCE,
and a DUKE. A GARDENER, a STEPMOTHER, and a secret...
Ellie Abbington, a beautiful yet unassuming
young woman, quietly longs for her life to change. Too privileged to associate
with the servants—too underprivileged to associate with her own family; she
dreams a dream of a prince and a happily ever after.
But it could be that her own stepsisters,
conniving Dezmarie and easily-influenced Adelaide, are dreaming the same
dream...of the same prince.
In the end, are dreams even all they're
made out to be? Especially with deep and long-hidden secrets about to be unearthed?
A
Dream Not Imagined is a non-magical fairytale novella based loosely on the
