As Keeper of the
Seahorse Legacy, Cazien de Pollis is a King among pirates, divinely appointed
to dispense justice on the seas. Bound by the sacred oath of a long-dead
ancestor, he must fulfill a contract to wed the green-eyed Oracle’s Daughter
named therein—or risk losing everything he and his people hold dear. But at
nineteen, with the identity of his betrothed only recently revealed, Cazien
resents the contract—and the urgency within him to see it satisfied.
Erielle de Gladiel returned from the quest for the Remedy, changed. Not only are her formerly-blue eyes now a brilliant shade of green, but she must don gloves to hide inky evidence that her prophetically-bestowed title, the Oracle’s Daughter, demands more from her than the task already completed. Erielle’s dearest-held dream is realized when she is knighted by her King, but unbeknownst to her, that very honor jeopardizes the prophesied purpose to which she and Cazien have been called.
Just as Cazien summons the courage to collect his bride, dark rumors and darker deeds crawl up the coasts, calling its guardians, the Seahorse Pirates, into action—and Cazien away from Erielle. But even though the Oracle’s Daughter knows nothing of the contract to which she has been consigned, Cazien’s enemies have somehow learned of his interest in Erielle. And if they reach her before his ancestor’s weighty oath is executed, the Seahorse Legacy will be forfeited . . . and darkness will be given reign.
Subtly paying homage to several classic tales including Peter Pan, Robin Hood, The Little Mermaid, Much Ado About Nothing, and even The Three Little Bears, THE SEAHORSE LEGACY begins an epic re-imagining of the classic Grimm fairy tale, The Twelve Dancing Princesses which will conclude in Eyes of E’veria, Book 4: THE SUNKEN REALM.

Thanks so much for hosting today, Hannah! :) {(hugs)} ~SERENA
I love pirate stories, because they're always so full of adventure! I loved "Peter Pan"; I have to admit, the first time I read it was in my university's Children's Literature course. It was so much fun! :)
And my favourite fictional pirate would have to be....hmm...am I allowed to use one of my own characters? That sounds absurd, but I love her so much! Ironically, her name is Mercy, and there's a price on her head--put there by the king and queen of her land. Who also happen to be her parents' best friends. Drama!
And if I can't choose her, I'll have to choose Captain Hook. I actually sympathized with him in the book--and the movie. Poor guy. :P
Can I just say that this story sounds absolutely awesome?
I love pirate stories, though I don't read nearly as many as I'd like. They're exciting, and there's something about the high seas that makes books just a little more awesome.
My favorite fictional pirate would probably be Declan Ross from Wayne Thomas Batson's Pirate Adventure books.
Ooo, cool sounding pirate story, Beka! Which of your novels is this in?
Yes, I can see where you sympathize with Captain Hook in the book and in the real-person movie.
Say, have you seen the newest Tinker Bell movie, The Pirate Fairy? I'm going to unashamedly say that I've watched all the Tinker Bell movies and enjoyed them. This one was really good too, and it had some interesting origins in it...
@Sarah: Then put this on your list, because I KNOW that it's going to be awesome. And if you haven't read the first two books yet, you should give them a shot. That way you can be drawn into the mystery of Captain Cazien, though he appears precious little in the first two books.
I haven't actually read a pirate novel! The only author I know that writes about pirates is MaryLu and I have only read one of her books! However I am REALLY interested in this novel and want to read it! Planning on putting this one on my wishlist!
I don't have a favorite pirate that I can think of at the moment!
Well, I was going to say that I don't read pirate stories much (what with some real-life pirates being some of the most hideous criminals ever)...but then I started realizing that there are several pirates I did like.
I thought Captain Jack Sparrow for the movies...then someone had to go mention Westly, who might top that. Of course, I love Cazien, and he might be my favorite, but I'll leave him out for this. So book-wise, I was thinking Cat (Isle of Swords, Isle of Fire), and then there was the mad hare from Redwall's High Rhulain...and Westly again...
I'm giggling a little at the mention of how little Caz appears in the first 2 books--it's true! He's barely there, but he made a big impression, I guess, because I heard from so many readers after those books came out, professing deep and abiding Cazien love. :) Leave it to a pirate to steal even a spotlight--and from an honorable knight like Julien, too! (the hero of books 1&2)HA!
Thanks, everyone, for all the great mentions, the comments, the "likes" on FB, the Tweet-love, and the entries! I can hardly wait to share this story with you all!
~Serena
Ooh! I want this book so badly, but if it's anything like the Ryn, I'll desperately need the sequel, so I might need to wait to read it.
My favorite pirate is Captain Hook-- not from classical Peter Pan, but from Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry. Love those books! So funny and so very sad at the same time.
Congratulations, Serena!
Well, I must admit that I've been kind of a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to pirates, just ask my now grown kids. I'm sure when I was young I saw them in some black and white movie that left me equating them with the worst of modern day terrorizing criminals to whom women and children would be doomed. Which, of course was true, but I am discovering that in the fantastical world there are some kind-hearted charmers in the lot. I mean, who wouldn't be charmed by Dread Pirate Robert (Wesley version), Will Turner, the very real Sir Francis Drake or The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything? Tonight for my favorite I will pick the "as you wish" Dread Pirate Roberts.
I'm looking forward to reading your story Ms, Chase. It sounds very adventurous.
@Hannah: I definitely want to try this series! I asked this on another blog but couldn't get an answer: is the second book only available for the Kindle?
This looks like a cool book. Is it a book I could read without having read the first one? ;)
@Anna: Since I haven't read it yet, I'm not sure. I'm guessing you could read this, since the first two books were pretty much part 1 and 2 of the same story and finished that story as well. But I recommend the other two, just so you can get to know the characters in this one better...and be drawn in by the mystery.
