Book Busyness

How have I been progressing on my writing, Those-Who-Are-Interested? It would sound most impressive to say I've finished all my edits on Moonscript and am halfway through my next manuscript. Impressive...but untrue. :(

Alas, I'm not even done with the edits on Moonscript yet. In fact, there are a few revised scenes yet to be written (one planned, one sort of planned, one still hovering around undecided). But never fear, dear reader! I'm still working ahead, bit by bit.

Hopefully, I'll be able to set up a line-edit with a professional sometime in summer, and when that's completed I can finally start seeing about agents and publishers...hopefully.

In the meantime, between school and art and life, I've been buzzing with story ideas. Especially concerning a prequel to Moonscript that has been plauging me the last couple of days. Nothing like a story that won't shut up and give a break. And I have a rather large fan fiction for Goldstone Wood in the works. Also, I'm working on a short story for a writing contest, along with edits and other writing projects. So that's what I've been doing writing-wise.

Thank you all for your interest and encouragement! You're a blessing!

That's a good picture. It describes me sometimes. When you are done with that book 'How to unlock your Inner Genius' will you let me borrow it, please?

Thanks, everyone! I think my scehdule is going to start calming down, so hopefully I will be struck with crazy inspiration.

@Sarah: I look forward to sharing it...

@Blue: Ah, I wish I had that book too. The fantasies of an author...

The best thing to do is keep moving- if there's no progress, there's nothing happening, but if there's only a smidgen of movement, it is better than none!

Keep at it, Hannah! Can't wait to read your fan-fiction! :)

I'm glad you shared this update. I was getting this little fear in the back of my mind that you had stopped work on Moonscript. Oh, the horror!

Say, if you ever need any beta readers or anything ... (she typed hopefully)

@Clara: I think you'll like it! I'll probably enter it in the next fan fiction contest!

@Rebekah: Heehee, no, no, not quitting on Moonscript (that would be a horror). I've just taken a break, but I hope to be picking back up on serious edits soon!

Say, oh-so-mysterious-Rebekah-who-always-encourages-me-concerning-Moonscript...do you have a blog I could follow or something? :D

Inspired by all the lovely comments, I just went on a little Moonscript editing excursion. Here's a little bit I'll share--

“Say, Errance,” he said suddenly. “How’d you get so strong?”
“Brutal slave labor, Celestial resilience, and stubborn determination.”
"Oh.” Kelm twiddled his thumbs. “Is there a way more suited to me?” he asked hopefully.
Errance’s eyes followed the path of a shooting star, but the corner of his mouth turned up in a wry smirk. “Growing up might help.”

Poor Kelm! He should try canoeing, pleasurable and good for your arms.
Poor Errance too.

Just one wee thing: that is a good section, but is the description 'wry' necessary for a smirk?

Hannah said...

I'll pass the recommendation to Kelm...and sympathies to Errance. ;)

Oo, good point. :)

You've caught me in a generous mood! Here's another excerpt!

“Which is interesting, because I could have sworn I’ve seen you,” Coren replied.
Instantly, Errance looked guarded. “What do you mean?” he asked cautiously.
“I mean that your face is familiar. I hope you weren’t that snobbish elf brat I dunked in the horse trough as a boy.”
“No.”
“Well, that’s a relief in any case. For a moment there, I wondered if you might hold a grudge.”

Ha! Those bits are great!

And, no, I don't have a blog. I've considered starting one, but I don't really know what I'd say on it.
