The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is releasing December 13th. SQUEEE! I'm so excited! Whether Peter Jackson is sticking to the children's book or not, he is at the very least, creating an exiting fantasy adventure to join in. And to the delight of my elf-loving heart, it looks like there's going to be a LOT of elf action in this movie.

Yes, yes, I know. Along with probably every other Tolkien fan, I rebelled against the idea of Tauriel. I still don't entirely approve, but I've resigned myself to her addition. To be honest, now that I'm resigned, I'm actually looking forward to her. So Peter Jackson created a fan fiction character to help the movies along. All right. As long as he doesn't go against the spirit and quality of the books, I'm willing to see what he comes up with.

And I can't wait for the upcoming Disney fairytale remake of the Snow Queen--Frozen!

Also, Jill Stengl, the mother of my very favorite author, Anne Elisabeth Stengl, is returning to writing novels! Her first novel in several years is going to be releasing this November! And from what I hear, it's going to be her best one yet! She's certainly picked a dramatic time...the French Revolution. Yikes! Here's an article she wrote about writing this novel that I found interesting.
What about you, oh readers of mine? Are there some things you're especially looking forward to in the near future?

I'm totally excited for The Desolation of Smaug too. I want to see it the day it comes out. (Though not the midnight premiere; that would be too late at night for me.)
Frozen looks pretty cool. I actually want to see that movie now . . .
Other things I'm looking forward to:
-NaNoWriMo
-New books (namely Hero, The Seventh Door, and Goddess Tithe)
I am looking forward to "The Desolation of Smaug!" I'd also like to see Disney's "Frozen." They finally got a detailed trailer for it.
Yey! We can look forward together! Have a great time at NaNoWriMo, Sarah! And I'm looking forward to the official release of Goddess Tithe too!
Bahahaha! I hadn't heard of 'Frozen' till now, but it looks HILARIOUS! Thanks for the trailer, I am totally going to watch it!
I am so looking forward to Desolation of Smaug; last time I went in costume (wasn't much of one and there weren't many people when I went) and maybe I will again.
I'm also DYING for something else to come out. It's 'Divergent', and it's based on the book; it's a trilogy, the last book still coming out. I have been freaking out over it, and it's not supposed to come until March 2014!! AUGH. SUCH a good book, and it looks like SUCH an amazing movie.
There's also a Comic Con next year being held where we live!! Super siked! We're already discussing costumes. :D
Oh, I'm so glad I was able to show you Frozen!
I've heard that you're a Divergant fan! I haven't read them myself, but I hope the movie turns out exactly how you want it to be!
Ooo, a Comic Con next year at your place! How cool!
I didn't know Orlando Bloom was in the Hobbit films. YEA! Must watch now. Ha!
That said, you probably have guessed I've not see the first one. Must remedy that real soon!
I was waiting for the second one to be close, so that way, I don't have to wait too long after watching the first one. That's my excuse. Ha!
Yes, Legolas wasn't in The Hobbit book, but they were in his kingdom, so it totally makes sense he would be here. I think Peter Jackson turned him into an important character. Hey, that's okay with me. :)
He isn't in the first part, but you'll get a glimpse or two of his father, who's absolutely incredible.
Enjoy the movies. They have a different feel to them than Lord of the Rings, but then, LOTR was far different than The Hobbit in book form too. :)
