Characters in Costume Challenge

Gillian Adams is back, and the Characters in Costume Challenges have begun again! To learn more about the Challenges and how to participate, please go to her site: Of Battles, Dragons, and Swords of Adament.

This month, the character chosen was an obstacle character. What is an obstacle character?
An obstacle character is any character who stands in the way of the protagonist as he/she moves toward his/her goal. Obstacle characters are generally not the main antagonist, but could be anyone from a villain's minion to a random stranger in the street to the protagonist's best friend. Regardless of who the obstacle character is, his/her beliefs or own desires or goals set him/her in the protagonist's way.
Originally, I thought I would do a character from my own stories. But then I decided I didn't want to reveal too much about that character yet. Sorry.

Luckily, my friend in Washington and I took a Goldstone Wood photo-shoot, and here is the character I chose for this month!

 ROSE RED
Photographer: Missy
Model and fog effects: Myself
Rose Red is a veiled goat girl living up in the mountains of Southlands. When Leo discovers her, they become fast friends. But their friendship becomes strained as they grow and find the expectations of others pulling them apart...

Certainly, Rose Red doesn't seem like she should be an obstacle character! She's Leo's truest friend! But the Lady of Dreams whispers in Leo's mind that the goat girl stands in the way of his dream. Also, Daylily, his betrothed, sees Rosie as a threat to herself, and wishes Leo would send her away. As time passes and peril becomes ever more eminent, Leo is forced to choose between Rosie's friendship and the respect of his entire kingdom...

Read the story of Rose Red and Leo in Anne Elisabeth Stengl's books, Veiled Rose and Moonblood!

Note to Reader: This post was pre-scheduled. I won't be back to answer comments until at least the 23rd. Thank you!

That picture is really neat! You made me want to read Stengle's all the more now.

I should get back to doing Characters in Costume on my own blog too.
