So I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the upcoming release,
Dragonwitch, by my favorite author, Anne Elisabeth Stengl. While I was at the edge of my seat, I decided to do a digital art project. This was inspired by the prologue of the book as seen on Amazon.com.
Enjoy!
For those who have read the books (and those ridiculously lucky ones who've read
Dragonwitch already) do you have a guess who that valiant knight might be? Keep in mind this is a picture inspired by the prologue.

Wow! This is good!
This is so lovely, Hannah! Digital art is one of the things that continue to elude me, lol. I especially love the colours!
Thank you, girls! I only just started digital art, Beka, and believe me, it was not easy at first. I started out believing that by pure skill alone was I going to create all those masterpieces that I've seen other people do.
Ha! The pure loveliness of digital art is all the little cheating you get to do. With the right programs (I mostly use Corel Paintshop Pro X4) you have all these brushes to create fire, heatwaves, smudging, star-bursts, and other awesome things. You can create layers to work on different objects and erase parts of them without erasing the background! I also got a Bamboo tablet this year, which, once you practice, really helps with drawing finer detail.
Nevertheless, it does take a lot of work, concentration, and patience.
And you know those really realistic-looking digital illustrations? Well, I only just found out that some of it is real pictures digitally altered and enhanced. Gasp! No wonder those people would look so real!
So keep working with it! Once it finally starts to make sense, you can do some really cool things.
This is beautiful! I just started playing around with digital art, I don't know if I would have the patience to create something this awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Jennette! I hope you have fun with digital art!
Love it!
Hey Hannah! I was looking for away to contact you, but couldn't find it. I'm doing a blog posts about dragons in honor of Dragonwitch next month, and I was wondering if I could feature this poster along with some other artists' work and jewelery. I can also link back to your blog as well. Let me know, Thanks! jlmbewe(at)gmail(dot)com
Awesome!!! I would be honored if you included my poster in your article! I can't wait to see all the different dragons. And if you would like to link back to my blog, I'm fine with that! :)
Thank you for asking!
Thanks Hannah! :-)
I'm trying to balance my blog posts so I don't "dragon" everyone out. Ha! We shall see how it goes.
